The spice that makes curry powder yellow comes from the rhizome of the turmeric plant. Turmeric reduces inflammation and benefits the heart, brain, liver, joints, and immune system. It is also used as an antiseptic and to help wounds heal. Curry is not just tasty; it’s good for you! Some people even think that eating curry may be why Indians suffer less cancer and Alzheimer’s disease than Americans do.

Scientists are studying compounds from turmeric to see if they can help treat cancer.
