Banyan
Lime
Citrus x aurantiifolia
Rutaceae, the citrus family
Native to Asia

Like many citrus fruits, lime is a cultivated hybrid that does not exist in nature. Lime juice, peel, bark, and leaves are used medicinally. People in Africa, Central America, and the Middle East use lime to treat respiratory infections. Lime extracts inhibit bacteria and fungi. Lime juice also contains proteins that might slow cancer growth.

A study in Mexico found that when women drank limeade, they could get more iron from their local diet.
